Become a dog whisperer.

Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust's "Dog Dazed" event features a lecture on dog behavior in the woods and a film screening of the 45-minute film "Dog Dazed." Dog trainers will be on hand to discuss dog psychology on hiking trails, including recalling dogs away from common outdoor distractions. It will feature free pizza and door prizes. Learn about foster parenting.

Join the Massachusetts Department of Children & Families for an informational session on becoming a foster parent and adopting from foster care at the Southworth Library, 7-8 p.m. DCF serves children of all ages from every community who need a home. Laugh for a cause.

Odies Place Animal Rescue's Comedy Show for the Animals begins at 8 p.m. at the Dartmouth VFW, located at 144 Cross Road. The show features a lineup of six local comedians, including Eric Monroe, Christopher Swanson, David Sinclair, Samantha Hemmingsen, Kirsten Logan, and Alan Fitzgerald. Tickets are $10 each, $30 for a set of four, and $15 each at the door. The comedy show benefits the Dartmouth-based nonprofit, no-kill, all-breed animal rescue group. Learn about Alzheimer’s Disease.

Local author and Alzheimer’s Disease expert Beverly Moore will speak at Brookdale Dartmouth Village at 10 a.m. Caregivers and families with loved ones affected by dementia are welcome. Seating is limited. Call (508) 999-0404 to make a reservation. Brookdale Senior Living is located at 274 Slocum Road.

The Smith Mills Christian Congregational Church will host its indoor yard sale from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. The church is located at 11 Anderson Way, and the sale will be in Fellowship Hall. A snow date is set for February 26, 12-4 p.m.

Enjoy a long winter beach walk.

Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary’s snowshoeing program starts at 10 a.m. at the sanctuary, located at 1280 Horseneck Road. The snowshoe trek runs through the sanctuary’s beach loop trail up to the channel that feeds Allens Pond, an approximately two-mile hike. Also included: searches for animal activity through scat, tracks, and other tell-tale signs. Participants must provide their own snowshoes. The cost is $10 for members and $12 for non-members. The Dartmouth Historical and Arts Society’s Sunday lecture series will feature a talk on the friends and family of Paul Cuffe at 6:30 p.m. at the Russells Mills Schoolhouse, located at 1205 Russells Mills Road. The program explores connections between local Paul Cuffe and a wider network of friends and family. A $5 donation is suggested.
