Bishop Stang earns Gold Council of Excellence Award
At the annual Massachusetts Association of Student Councils (MASC) spring conference held in Hyannis on March 8-10, Bishop Stang was recognized as a MASC Gold Council of Excellence Award winner for 2016-2017. This award is presented to student councils that MASC determine to be the most outstanding in the state.
“It is a huge achievement for our council and the entire Stang community. We made it a priority to regain Gold Council status this year, and it is really a testament to the efforts of the entire school that we were able to succeed in this goal,” said Student Council President Charlie Markert in a press release.
Bishop Stang has achieved this award in four of the last seven years, school officials said. In prior years, Bishop Stang was the recipient of the Silver Council of Excellence and also a National Association of Student Councils Award winner.
“It was an extremely successful conference for Bishop Stang as a whole. It would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of the student council officers, members, and school community,” said Faculty Advisor Cara Healey.
Also at the annual spring conference, seniors Megan Alberto, Charlie Markert, and Ryan Torres were recognized as Commonwealth Award winners for their leadership and citizenship both in and out of school.
