Hit the books.

The Southworth Library’s annual spring book sale opens to the public at 732 Dartmouth Street from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. April 27 and 28, and 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on April 29. Donated, gently-used and carefully-sorted books will be on sale.

Make friends with monsters.

The opening show of the Dartmouth High Theatre Company's performance of "Young Frankenstein" starts at 7 p.m. at the high school. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and $42 for a family four-pack. For tickets, call (508) 971-2258. This production is rated PG 13. Performances are also scheduled for April 28 and 29 at the same time and place, in addition to a 1 p.m. Saturday matinee.

Saturday, April 29

Fly like an eagle.

The Lloyd Center’s first spring bird walk begins at 7 a.m. at the center, 430 Potomska Rd. The early morning walk searches for migrant songbirds and shorebirds passing through the region. Pre-registration is required by 4 p.m. on April 28, and the cost is $3 for members, $5 for non-members, and $2 for children under 12. Visit lloydcenter.org to register.

Go on a StoryWalk.

Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust’s StoryWalk series begins at 10 a.m. at Paskamansett Woods on Chase Road. The event features a walk led by Nancy Cote, author of Watch the Birdie! Kids activities and light refreshment will be served at the DNRT Center at Helfand Farm, 318 Chase Road, following the walk. For more information visit dnrt.org.

Touch a truck.

The Dartmouth YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day and Touch-A-Truck event runs from 12-2 p.m. at 276 Gulf Road. The YMCA's parking lot will be filled with police, fire, tow trucks, and dump trucks for kids to explore. Activities focusing on safety are also planned. The event is free.

Make your voice heard.

Fire District No. 3’s Annual Meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the 140 Cross Road station. District No. 3 residents will be asked to approve the department’s $3 million budget for 2018.
