Police arrest wanted California fugitive
Police arrested a California fugitive after watching him try to solicit magazine sales.
Tyrone Trevell Scott, 27, of Chicago, was going door-to-door on August 15. Around 3:15 p.m., Detective Sean McGuire noticed Scott, and determined that he was not registered to solicit within the town, police said.
Upon conducting a check, McGuire learned that Scott was wanted in California for burglary into a dwelling, and that the California Department of Corrections had a full extradition warrant issued for his arrest, police said.
Scott was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from justice. He will be arraigned in Third District Court in New Bedford on Wednesday, August 16.
"This further solidifies the importance of the rules and regulations that have been put in place regarding solicitation in Dartmouth," said acting Chief Brian Levesque. "The arrest of Mr. Scott should also serve as an important reminder to everyone that you never know who you may encounter at your own front door, so please be very cautious about who you decide to open it for!"
No information regarding extradition proceedings is available at this time.
