Dartmouth dancers to take part in Nutcracker performance
When the New Bedford Ballet takes to the stage for its annual A New England Nutcracker show, several Dartmouth performers will be in the show.
The original adaptation from the traditional Nutcracker ballet was created by New Bedford Ballet Director Rebecca Waskiel-Marchessault, and includes characters from all over the globe covering a wide array of backgrounds, from Chinese, Spanish, and French dancers to whaling sailors and Native Americans.
Cast members from Dartmouth include Sofia Montez, Danya Li, Madyn Waskiewicz, Ally Howes, Joy Li, Christina D’Amour, Felicia Garro, Mary Bancroft, Audrey French, Caroline Mello, Olivia Cornell, and Sarah Hurteau.
Shows are scheduled for December 2-3 at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m., December 8 at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., and December 9-10 at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Shows are at the NBB Community Theatre, 2343 Purchase Street in New Bedford.
Ticket are $12 for adults, and $7 for seniors, students, and children. Group rates for non-profit organizations are also available. Proceeds from the ballet support the New Bedford Ballet Foundation, which has been funding ticket sales for schools and seniors for two decades.
