Richard R. Cabral, 75, of Dartmouth, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Diamantina (Silva) Cabral.

Born in New Bedford, a son of the late Joaquim and Margaret (Freitas) Cabral, he was a lifelong area resident and a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Dartmouth.

Mr. Cabral served in the United States Army and later served in the Reserves with the 483rd Combat Engineers before ultimately reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion and worked as a commercial driver. Richard was involved for 37 years with the Dartmouth High School Music Association and he loved his special dog, "Chatinha."

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Margaret Prendergast, and her husband, Dean, of Portsmouth, RI; two sons, Steven Cabral and his wife, Nancy, and Michael Cabral and his wife, Jennifer, all of Dartmouth; eight grandchildren: Aaron, Nicholas, Lily, Justin, Stephanie, Branden, Cody, and Abigail; and several nieces and nephews.
