Early morning fire damages commercial garage
A fire in a commercial garage on Ventura Drive on December 27 caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to the building and equipment housed within.
According to Dartmouth Fire District No. 3 Deputy Chief Theodore Borges, crews responded to a report of a garage fire at 14 Ventura Drive at 4:04 a.m.
Fire crews arrived to a fully engulfed 105-by-50 foot garage. The fire was reported to be under control by 4:42 a.m. Twenty-seven firefighters responded to the scene, and despite single-digit temperatures, no injuries were reported.
The building is currently occupied by Simmons Concrete, which used the five-bay garage building to store equipment and vehicles.
Damage to vehicles and the building itself is estimated to exceed $650,000.The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the state fire marshal's office and District No. 3 investigators.
