After a long and brave battle against cancer, Lois Schmidt passed on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at the age of 64.

Lois was a loving, caring, and generous woman who was full of life. She is survived by her husband of 44 years Mark Schmidt, her children Eyleen, Jay (daughter in law Stacey), Katie (and Peter Roderiques), her grandchildren Sydney and Cameron, and her brothers Kevin (Bernadette), Darryl (Georgette), and Shawn (Lisa), Murphy, as well as her many nieces, nephews, and friends.

For over 40 years she worked as part of her family business, Murphy Automatic Sales, to provide lunch services to generations of Bishop Stang graduates.

She loved to sail, enjoyed the pools at Marriott hotels and most of all she loved to spend time and laughter with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren.

She lived her life with a rare combination of childhood wonder, joy and sage wisdom. The world has less laughter in it with her passing and we ask everyone to fill that void, laugh and laugh loud everyday and think of Lois when you do.

Her funeral will be held on January 11 at 9 a.m. from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth, followed by her funeral mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 783 Dartmouth Street, Dartmouth. Burial will be private.

Visiting hours are Wednesday, 5-8 p.m.
