Dartmouth church to host "Ashes to Go" services

Feb 5, 2018

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Dartmouth and St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in New Bedford will offer an “Ashes to Go” service on Ash Wednesday, February 14.

The beginning of Lent, a 40-day period of spiritual renewal and preparation for Easter, typically includes a visit to church for the customary Ash Wednesday service. But the two parishes will be offering services beyond the church walls with drive-up ash marking throughout the day.

Drive-up service will be offered in front of the Big Value Outlet, 718 Dartmouth Street in Dartmouth from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. A Service of Holy Eucharist will be held at 7 p.m. at the 351 Elm Street church, with music provided by the St. Peter’s Contemporary Folk Group.

From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the service will also be offered in the parking lot of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 136 Rivet Street. A brief service will be held from 12:15 to 12:30 p.m. inside the church.

Anyone in the community is invited to attend these services.
