New Bedford Symphony Accepting Scholarship Applications

Feb 22, 2018

The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra is now accepting applications for the 2018 Lillian B. Lamoureux Music Scholarship. The scholarship competition is open to all South Coast music students ages 14-21. Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded, one to a high school student and one to a college student. Scholarships may be used for private music lessons, tuition, or other expenses that further the student’s music education.

“We encourage local music students to apply for this annual scholarship,” said David Prentiss, NBSO President & CEO. “The New Bedford Symphony has been awarding the Lillian B. Lamoureux Scholarship since 2000, and it continues to recognize the legacy of former President Emerita and longtime board President Lillian B. Lamoureux, who passed away last year. We are honored to continue our commitment to music education in her name.”

Scholarship applications are available online at www.nbsymphony.org under the Education & Community tab. Deadline for return of all applications, including letters of recommendation, is Friday, April 20, 2018. Finalists will be invited to audition before the scholarship committee on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at UMass Dartmouth College of Visual and Performing Arts in North Dartmouth, MA.
