Sheriff Thomas Hodgson rallies for Congressional action on illegal immigration

Apr 2, 2018

Bristol County Sheriff Thomas M. Hodgson is leading a nationwide effort by sheriffs to push Congress to step up the fight against illegal immigration.

According to his office, through Hodgson’s work, a letter signed by 380 sheriffs and the Ohio Sheriffs Association was recently delivered to members of Congress.

The letter outlines, among other things, the need for enforcement of immigration laws, tightening of border security, repair, replacement, and construction of a barrier along the U.S. and Mexican border, and ending the practice of sanctuary cities and states.

In a statement, Sheriff Hodgson said he decided to rally support from National Sheriff’s Association and his fellow American sheriffs due to the delay in moving forward on legislation that would address illegal immigration and border security problems.

“We’re calling on Congress to take action now, on the security issues at the border and against sanctuary policies in our states, cities and towns,” Sheriff Hodgson said.
