Join Us For A Contemplative Nature Walk On 6/2 To Reflect Upon Veterans' Experience.

May 21, 2018

This year, the Zeiterion Theater has held a series of events called “The Veterans’ Experience.” This has provided an opportunity to reflect on issues that affect our Veterans with a focus on the redemptive power of storytelling.

On June 1st, the Zeiterion will host a free showing of the movie “Almost Sunrise” at the theater in New Bedford. The film follows two Iraq veterans, Tom Voss and Anthony Anderson, who struggle with "moral injury" upon returning home from service. Fearful of succumbing to depression, they seek a lifeline and embark on a 2,700-mile walk across America as a way to confront their inner pain. The movie documents their journey.

On Saturday, June 2nd, at 10:00, The Zeiterion Theater and The Encompass Community for Independent Learning will host its culminating event on the Friends Academy campus in Dartmouth, Ma. It is open to all ages. Veteran Tom Voss who is featured in the movie and the Director Michael Collins will lead a contemplative walk to experience the restorative, soul-nourishing benefits of spending time in nature and concluding with a guided meditation.

If you would like to attend the movie screening or walk, please RSVP by visiting www.zeiterion.org/almost-sunrise or by calling The Zeiterion’s box office at 508-994-2900.

Also: We would like to line the woods for the meditative walk with simple letters or pictures of thanks to veterans for their service. We will attach them to the trees along the trail to create a public installation and "story-walk." Please email egouveia@friendsacademy1810.org to participate.
