The Dartmouth Historical & Arts Society regularly hosts Sunday lectures about local lore. Find the group at the Russells Mills Schoolhouse, located at 1205 Russells Mills Road.

March 26: "Dartmouth has roots of faith, part 2," presented by Pam Cole; 6:30-8 p.m.

April 2: "Grave lessons: artwork in Little Compton burial ground," presented by Albert Lees; 6:30-8 p.m.

Find out how the skulls, winged cherubs, and weeping willows incorporated into gravestone artwork reflected the changing social and religious mindsets of the Pilgrims and Puritans who settled in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Albert Lees will explain the earliest gravestones at Little Compton's Common Burial Ground.

April 9: "Remembering Gidley School," presented by Bob Harding, et al; 6:30-8 p.m.

The remembrance for Gidley School will feature alumni and shared tales of the school. All former Gidley students, former teachers, and staff are invited to share their memories. The session will be held at the DHAS headquarters, located at 1205 Russells Mills Road.

April 23: "A history of the hamlet of Cedar Dell Springs," presented by Jim Costa; 6:30-8 p.m.

May 7: "Storms I have experienced," presented by Cukie Macomber; 6:30-8 p.m.

May 21: "Revolutionary War veteran Joseph Weaver and the Weaver house at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth," presented by Bob Harding; 6:30-8 p.m.

June 4: "The history and practice of dousing," presented by Cukie Macomber; 6:30-8 p.m.
