31st annual New Year’s walk set at Gooseberry Neck
The 31st annual Lloyd Center for the Environment new year’s walk will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 1 on Gooseberry Neck Beach.
Research Associate Jamie Bogart will lead the walk, which will focus on coast ecology and bird identification. Bogart will identify winter waterfowl and “washed up’’ marine life.
January is a special time of year to walk the coast and observe the effects of wave action on the slope and shape of the beach, Lloyd Center staff members report.
This is a very informal outing; anyone is welcome. Participants should dress warmly and wear hiking boots; binoculars and cameras are also recommended.
Anyone with specific questions about the program should call Bogart at 508-990-0505 x 23, or email jbogart@lloydcenter.org.
