Antone J. Costa, age 92, formerly of East Freetown, passed away on September 14, 2016 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances (Cabral) Costa and the son of the late Joaquin and Maria Viegas (Cabral) Costa.

Antone was born in New Bedford and worked as a painter for St. George’s School in Middleton, Rhode Island and for Pacheco’s Hardware. He was a member of Local 214, and played the trumpet with Gene Marshall, Art Perry and the Meltones, as well several other concert bands.

He is survived by two daughters: Carolyn Ann and her husband James J. Picanzo III of Dartmouth; Donna Marie and her husband Greg Mott of Fairmont, West Virginia. Grandchildren include: Krystle and her husband Kenneth Almeida; Brandon Vello and his companion, Suzanne Tavares; Jon Garcia and his wife Leslie Emily Mott; and Casey Tosti and his wife Samantha. Great grandchildren include Kole Almeida, Khloe Garcia, Kalei Garcia, and Molly Tosti, and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

His funeral will be Friday, September 16, in the Perry Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. with a service to begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery.
