Applications available for summer Parks and Rec employment

Dec 18, 2019

Snow might be on the ground, but now is the time to start preparing for summer employment with Dartmouth Parks and Recreation.

The department is now accepting applications for seasonal summer employment for the 2020 season. The department hires about 50 seasonal employees to staff facilities during the busy summer season, including lifeguards, gate guards, laborers, concession staff, and playground instructors.

Applications can be downloaded and printed online from the town’s website, town.dartmouth.ma.us. There are two applications: One for re-hires who have worked for hte department in the past, and one for new applicants.

The deadline to submit an application is March 31 for returning applicants, and April 17 for new applicants.

Interviews will be scheduled during after-school hours of the week of April 27. Those chosen for interviews will be notified a week prior to their scheduled interview date. Final decisions on hiring will be communicated to those selected within two weeks of interviews.

Those hired will be required to attend a mandatory orientation on June 1. Lifeguards must complete a swim test at Round Hill on May 27 as a requirement for final acceptance for hiring.

Employees are subject to strict policies and procedures, including a drug screening policy, to ensure the quality of staff and the safety of citizens and children using Parks and Recreation beaches and playgrounds.

All summer hires must complete a CPR/AED certification course at their expense before starting work.  A course will be set up through Parks & Recreation at a reduced cost to each hire.

For any questions about the application process, call the Parks and Recreation office at (508) 910-1812.
