Applications open for homebuyer assistance program

Jun 17, 2022

The Town of Dartmouth is accepting applications for its Homebuyer Assistance Purchase Program.

The program, which began in 2018, offers grants to income and asset-qualified first-time homebuyers in Dartmouth. It is intended to finance the gap between the affordable and selling prices of existing homes in Dartmouth.

Two grants up to $175,000 to purchase a two-bedroom home or three-bedroom home or larger are being offered. The program will reimburse each buyer up to $1,500 toward initial home inspections and any additional inspections required.

Income limits and other eligibility requirements apply.

Applicants must secure approval for a mortgage loan, submit evidence of such approval and availability of funds for a down payment together with the application.

The deadline to apply is Aug. 18, 2022. Only one application per household will be accepted.

Applications are available at Town Hall, 400 Slocum Road, and at the Southworth Library, 732 Dartmouth Street. They are also available online at www.town.dartmouth.ma.us/community-developmentgrants/files/2022-housing-assistance-purchase-program.
