Art Film Series returns to Southworth Library
The annual Molly Little Art Film Series is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Southworth Library, bringing area residents the opportunity to appreciate art.
This series has long been one of the most popular programs sponsored by the Friends of Dartmouth Libraries. Every winter since 1989, when library members Hope and Ruth Atkinson started the practice, the Friends have sponsored a film series centered on some aspect of the visual arts.
The Molly Little Foundation continues to make the showing of the series possible.
The title of this year’s program is “A History of European Art, Part 11,” completing the series that began last year. Professor William Kloss of the Smithsonian Institute will take up the history from where he left off last February, with the paintings of Michelangelo and follow through the centuries to end with Kandinsky and Picasso.
Each lecture is an hour, broken into two 30-minute segments. Once the series is complete, the entire collection will go into general circulation for those who may have missed a lecture or who are interested in seeing them again.
The films will be shown on Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m. in the Haskell Room at Southworth Library, located at 732 Dartmouth Street. They will run from January 19 through February 23, with snow dates on March 8 and March 15.
Admission is free and open to the public.
