Bike for clean water, October 1
The Buzzards Bay Coalition will host its 11th annual Buzzards Bay Watershed ride on Sunday, October 1. The event supports clean water in Buzzards Bay.
More than 150 cyclists participate in the ride each year, covering Sakonnet Point in Little Compton to the Cape Cod village of Woods Hole.
Riders can choose from one of three distances: a 35-mile route that begins in Rochester, a 75-mile route that begins in Westport, or a 100-mile “century ride” around the entirety of Buzzards Bay starting from the dramatic breakwater at Sakonnet Point, R.I. All three routes end together in the heart of Woods Hole with a finish line dinner and awards ceremony for the top fundraisers, largest teams and best team outfits.
Event staff provide a lunch stop, water, and snack stations along the course, and on-the-road repair technicians available at call.
Cyclists ages 12 and over are welcome to sign up. Many riders also form teams with their friends and families. Each rider raises a minimum of $300, and prizes go to riders and teams that achieve the highest fundraising totals.
