Brick Pizzeria plans Dartmouth opening by Christmas
Brick Pizzeria is the latest restaurant planning a Dartmouth opening, with the goal of bringing its 90 second pizzas and a casual atmosphere to the town’s college population.
The locally-owned pizza chain, which opened its first location in New Bedford in 2008, aims to open its latest location at 634 State Road by the end of the year, according to Jeff Goggin, one of the restaurant’s owners.
While the goal is to be up and running in the next six to eight weeks, Goggin hopes to open no later than Christmas.
“There haven’t been any hiccups yet,” Goggin said.
Dartmouth’s appeal came from its college population, specifically University of Massachusetts Dartmouth students, who would be a stone’s throw away from the State Road location.
“We wanted to be next to a school,” Goggin said. “We’ve been doing well in downtown New Bedford with the Star Store and [Bristol Community College] coming downtown really helped us.”
Goggin said a Dartmouth expansion was planned about four or five years ago, but a deal on a location fell through. Instead, the company opened its second location in Fairhaven in 2015.
The Dartmouth location will be modeled after the Fairhaven location with a 40-seat dining area. Like its other two locations, delivery service is not planned.
Brick is the second restaurant to announce a Dartmouth opening in recent weeks. The 9th Monarch, a Thai restaurant, received permission to open its location at the same plaza at the October 30 Select Board meeting. Owners plan a soft opening in the coming weeks.
