Busters Sports Bar & Grill to remain open
Everyone relax: Busters Sports Bar & Grill will not be closing any time soon.
“For lease” signs around the property prompted rumors of the family-owned restaurant’s closure. Owner Mark Stone said both he and Panagakos Development, an equal partner in the restaurant, had concerns about its future operations with the planned departure of a key employee.
After a meeting between the two parties, an agreement has been made and Busters will remain open at its current 227 State Road location, said Stone.
“I’m glad for our staff and our customers. We were shocked at the outpouring of support,” Stone said.
Stone, along with his brother John and wife Olivia, opened Busters Sports Bar and Grill at the former T.K. O'Malley's restaurant in 2012. It had been closed for years, and was well known in the area, Stone said.
“A lot of people had their first drinks here,” Stone added. “There’s a lot of memories here.”
Since then, the restaurant has become a popular destination, Stone said. He employs 45 staff members, and said he received an outpouring of support from the community when the issue first came to light last week. A post on the business's Facebook page announcing an agreement had been reached had about 950 likes and more than 200 shares.
