Buy a spine, help the new library

Jul 24, 2019

With the new North Dartmouth Library nearing completion, a new fundraising campaign is launching to help the library department move in.

The Dartmouth Libraries are now accepting donations for a special permanent art installation which will bear the names of donors.

It is a twist on the more traditional “buy-a-brick” donation system to recognize donors. Instead, the art installation will feature wooden book spines with messages from donors on each one.

Five donation levels are available. The Reader includes a 1.25-inch spine and one line of text for $100; Editor is 1.50 inches and one line of text for $250; Publisher is two inches and two lines of text for $500; Agent is 2.50 inches and two lines of text for $1,000; and Author is 2.75 inches and two lines of text for $1,000. Each line of text is 32 characters.

Donation forms are available at the Southworth Library and North Dartmouth Library, or online at the library’s website, town.dartmouth.ma.us/Library.

Completed forms may be sent to Southworth Library, 732 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth MA, 02748, to the attention of Lynne Antunes, Director of Libraries.
