Car accident leaves one dead and two injured on Chase Road
A car crash on Chase Road left John Aylward, Dartmouth resident, dead and two with “serious” injuries on July 9 at 3:50 p.m., according to Dartmouth Police.
The head-on collision involved a 2006 Cadillac Seville and a 2015 GMC Acadia. The crash is still under investigation, but police think Aylward swerved out of his lane and into another car going in the opposite direction.
As a result of the crash, the operator of the Cadillac was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where he was pronounced dead.
In the GMC, the 82-year-old operator, and his 75-year-old female passenger are currently being treated for “serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries” at St. Luke’s Hospital, according to police.
The cause of the crash is unknown and under investigation by both the Dartmouth Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit and the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit of Bristol County.
