Carlton E. Pina, 70, of Dartmouth died Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital after a period of declining health. He was the husband of Jeanne (Monteiro) Pina.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Antone and Mary (Rose) Pina, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life until moving to Dartmouth.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.

Carlton was formerly employed as the Assistant Manager of Sears Hardware in Fairhaven for many years until his retirement. He was also a life-long musician and the Musical Director for Tavares.

Music was Carlton's first love from the age of 13 until his last performance on August 12th. He had committed his life to sharing his gift of music both on stage and in the intimate moments spent mentoring countless musicians across the country. He also enjoyed working on model boats and planes, collecting Star Trek figures, playing video games and watching old military documentaries. But of all things, Carlton truly enjoyed spending time with family in the comfort of his home.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanne; his son, Carlton Jay Pina; his daughter, Jamilyn Soares and her husband Collis; two grandchildren, Isley and Preston Soares; three siblings, Ronald Pina, Jeanna Antunes, and Susan Fernandes; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his brother in-law, Alfred Monteiro and wife Theresa and sister in-law, Elaine Monteiro.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Toni Sharon DeBarros and Jaymie Monteiro.

His Funeral will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at 9am from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford followed by his Funeral Mass at 10am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
