Charles L. Laviolette Jr., 78
Charles L. "Charlie" Laviolette Jr., 78, of Dartmouth, died Monday, August 28, 2017 in Hathaway Manor in New Bedford after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Faria) Laviolette for 37 years.
Born in Milford the son of the late Charles L. and Helen (Casey) Laviolette, he was a graduate of Milford High School and immediately after graduation enlisted in the United Sates Navy where he was a member of the "Seabees" Construction Battalion.
He was loved and respected by everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. He will be truly missed.
Laviolette was a major in the Bristol County Sheriff's Department in the House of Corrections in New Bedford for 18 years until his retirement in 1996. Prior to that he worked in the construction industry for 20 years. Charlie enjoyed going to Foxwoods, bingo, fishing and loved racing. He along with his sister Ruth and his friend Ken Price religiously attended Seekonk Speedway every Saturday night.
In addition to his wife of 37 years, Charlie is survived by a daughter, Jodi L. Phillips, her husband Billy, and their children Meagan, Lauren and Ryan; and his son Jason C. Laviolette, his wife Kristen, and their children Brady and Kathryn all of Dartmouth; a sister, Ruth Swanbeck of New Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
