Coastline Elderly Services, Inc. will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year on October 20 at Rachel’s Lakeside in Dartmouth.

In November 1977, a small group of elder advocates wanted to focus on elderly issues and develop programs to help seniors remain independent in their homes. After many public meetings and input from the state Executive Office of Elder Affairs, Coastline was formed as a state home care non-profit corporation to assist elders in eight communities.

Today, Coastline provides services such as homecare, meals, transportation, and senior employment opportunities to residents in the Greater New Bedford area to enable elders to live in their own homes with support.
