Color guard takes second place in competition
Dartmouth High School’s winter color guard finished in its best placement yet in the Winter Guard International Finals in Ohio: second place.
The team earned the silver medal for its performance on April 8, beating out 22 other schools from across the country with 96.915 points. Director of Music Bill Kingsland said the team faced tough schools in three rounds of competition.
“Their skill level has gone way up over the last few years,” Kingsland said of the second place finish, noting that while the team has always finished in the top third, they’ve progressively raised in ranks over the years.
The color guard won’t have much time to rest, however. They will compete in the NESBA finals in Salem this weekend, a makeup from a show cancelled due to snow.
