Dartmouth accepting boat shrink wrap for recycling until June

Apr 10, 2017

New this year the Town of Dartmouth is accepting boat shrink wrap at the Dartmouth Transfer Station. Also, Frade’s Disposal can accept boat wrap at their New Bedford facility.

“Shrink wrap is a valuable recyclable plastic and it is a waste of our limited disposal resources at Crapo Hill to treat it as garbage. We are working with the Waterways Commission and the Harbormaster to alert individual boaters and boat yards of this win win solution to the annual shrink wrap disposal problem.” said David Hickox, Director of Public Works in the Town of Dartmouth.

White and blue boat wrap are accepted at the transfer station and at Frade’s Disposal. Zippers and straps must be removed and discarded. Spray painted wrap cannot be accepted.

Dartmouth Transfer Station permit holders may take boat wrap to the Dartmouth Transfer Station, April through June. There is a container for boat wrap only. The Dartmouth Transfer Station is open Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Dartmouth residents who would like to obtain a transfer station permit, or a day pass, may call the Dartmouth DPW at (508) 999-0740.
