Dartmouth police seek more info on fatal accident
Dartmouth police are looking for more information regarding a July 21 accident that killed 78-year-old Hortense Medeiros of Dartmouth.
During the investigation, witnesses told officers that several vehicles had to take evasive maneuvers in an effort to avoid colliding with the suspect's vehicle prior to the crash occurring.
Medeiros died days later from injuries sustained from the accident, which occurred near Dartmouth High School on Russells Mills Road between at approximately 7:30 p.m.
April Pimental, a 27-year-old from New Bedford, hit Medeiros with her 1996 Toyota Camry after leaving the road, according to Operations Commander Gregg Rutch. Pimental was taken away by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital and released soon after.
Police are looking for information on the individuals operating those vehicles. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Frank Oliveira at 508-910-1781.
