Dartmouth resident named to Port Professionals Committee

Jul 5, 2021

Kevin Murphy of Dartmouth has been named to the Port Professionals Committee of the Seaport Economic Council, based in New Bedford.

Members of this committee are determined to be subject matter experts in economic development in coastal communities and in the development of sustainable, resilient coastal marine assets, according to a definition on the state Web site.

The committee includes harbormasters, port planners, engineers and others with relevant experience, according to the Executive Order establishing the Seaport Economic Council.

Requests for funding for investment are reviewed by the Port Professionals Committee, which then makes a recommendation to the council.

Murphy is a member of the Waterways Commission, which can develop, manage and regulate all marine ramps, docks, wharves, piers and moorings within Dartmouth waters.

He is also a member of Fire District 1 Prudential Committee.
