Dartmouth resident plans to open orphanage in Ghana

Aug 22, 2018

Leon Monty, a Dartmouth-based house-painter and Christian music artist, plans to open an orphanage in Ghana. He is teaming up with Reverend Edmund Atawey, formerly a chaplain to a president of Ghana, now a resident of Pawtucket, Nii Borlabi Kukubi Okanshan Vi, the Oyibi Chief, and Arnold Obro, a Taifa, Ghana resident, who has offered to dig the well. Monty’s plan is to build an orphanage that will support destitute children and give them a comprehensive academic and religious education, preparing them to enter the workforce. The orphanage would be built on land donated by Oyibi Chief Nii in Oyibi, Ghana. Monty is soliciting donations to fund the orphanage. Checks can be made out to Monty’s Kids of Ghana Foundation and sent to 51 George St., Dartmouth, MA 02748.
