Dartmouth town election is this Tuesday

Jun 19, 2020

Residents will head to the polls this coming Tuesday, June 23 for Dartmouth’s Annual Town Election.

The annual town election was originally set to be held on April 7. Earlier this year, the Select Board voted to reschedule the election for Tuesday.

The revised voting hours will be 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Nine precincts will be consolidated into just four polling locations.

The polling places — all located in schools —  will each get two precincts that will be overlooked by one warden, except for Potter School, which will have three polling stations.

Voters will be required to bring a face covering and maintain social distancing. Only four voters will be allowed into each precinct at a time. Voters who are sick are asked to stay home.

In addition to instructions for voters, all poll workers are required to wear masks, pens and booths will be regularly disinfected, all polls will have one-way traffic and booths will be six feet apart, among other precautions.

While polling stations will be open, residents are able to vote by mail due to coronavirus concerns. All applications for absentee or early voting ballots must be at the Town Clerk’s office before noon on the last business day before the election.

Those who wish to verify their polling location or request an absentee ballot should call the Town Clerk’s Office at (508) 910-1800 or check the town’s website at www.town.dartmouth.ma.us
