DeMello Elementary introduces Sip 'n Paint without the wine

May 11, 2016

No two sunsets look the same, a lesson students at Joseph DeMello Elementary learned through painting.

On May 5, DeMello Elementary held a Paint Night for its students, comparable to painter Bob Ross's “The Joy of Painting” TV show, where viewers follow his step-by-step guides for painting various landscapes.

While such events have made for trendy adult outings lately (and are usually paired with wine), DeMello art specialist Julia Mullins thought it would be fun to bring a kid-friendly version to students.

Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 were provided with paint, canvases, and Mullins's instruction to create their very own fiery sunset paintings.

Students of all artistic ability were welcome to participate.
