The Dartmouth Historic and Arts Society will host a photo and document digitizing day on January 19 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Russells Mills Schoolhouse, 1205 Russells Mills Rd.

Preserve and share for future generations old photos of people and places of Dartmouth, or any other documents such as deeds, letters, or diaries that may be of interest to historical researchers. For documents or maps larger then 8 ½ x 11, schedule a time to have them digitized at a later date.

Please provide a written description (names & places) of each item to be posted to our digital library.

Attendees should bring a flash drive so they can leave with both the original item and the digital version, otherwise the digital version will be sent via email.

The photos will be posted with other photos in Our Collections > Photograph Section on our website dartmouthHAS.org. Other items will be posted in the appropriate section of the DHAS website, such as the Map room, The Archives, Genealogy, Living History, or the The Reading Room.

DHAS is hosting this event to help preserve private historical treasures for patrons, members, and friends, and provide for the education of its clients via the dissemination of the history of the town and its people.
