Dorothy C. Gomes, 89, of Dartmouth, died on January 9 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Gomes for 50 years.

Born in Dartmouth, she lived there most of her life. She worked as a presser in the garment industry. She enjoyed bingo and was an avid walker – walking many miles a day.

She is the sister of Veriato Lima of Dallas, TX and the late Shirley Garganta, Norma Varvaro, Gilbert Lima and John Lima; and aunt of Gilbert Lima and his wife, Pamela, of North Dartmouth and many other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Her funeral service will be held on January 13 at 10 a.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by burial in South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Salvation Army, 619 Purchase St., New Bedford, MA 02740 or the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
