Double the fun: Two holiday celebrations set Dec. 4, 5

Trees will be lit and memories will be made as the town gathers for two holiday celebrations Dec. 4 and 5.

The weekend’s activities will kick off with the Padanaram Holiday Festival Saturday, Dec. 4. The day’s events will culminate with the lighting of the first buoy tree, decorated entirely with individually designed buoys.

Those day-long activities will be followed the next day — Sunday, Dec. 5 — with the Town Hall Christmas tree lighting.

An array of activities are scheduled for the Padanaram Holiday Festival. Events include: 

11-11:15 a.m.: Santa arrives on a fire truck

 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Holiday art exhibit at the Dartmouth Cultural Center, 404 Elm St.

11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Cookie decorating at the community room at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 351 Elm St. 

11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.: Pictures with Santa in Santa’s Village at the Carriage House at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 351 Elm St.

11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Write letters to Santa on the patio of Farm and Coast Market, 7 Bridge St.

 Noon to 2 p.m.: Face painting with the elves at the Bridge Center for Hope and Healing, 351 Elm St.

 Noon to 2 p.m.: Strolling magic and hand puppets along Elm Street

 Noon to 3 p.m.: Ornament making at the Maritime Welcome Center, Bridge and Water streets 

1 to 1:15 p.m.: Dancers Edge Performance at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church

 1 to 3 p.m.: Meet the Grinch at Anne Whiting Real Estate, 250 Elm St.

 1 to 3 p.m.: Arts and crafts at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 351 Elm St.

 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.: Christmas storytelling in the chapel at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 351 Elm St.

 2 to 4 p.m.: Strolling jugglers and unicyclist along Elm Street

 3 to 4 p.m.: Christmas carolers strolling Elm Street

 3:30 to 3:45 p.m.: Motion Dance performance at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 351 Elm St.

 3:45 to 4:30 p.m.: Dartmouth Community Band parade from St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 351 Elm St., to Maritime Welcome Center, Bridge and Water streets.

 4 to 4:30 p.m.: Buoy tree lighting ceremony at Maritime Welcome Center , Bridge and Water streets. 

 Parking is available at the St. Mary’s Church Parish Center, 795 Dartmouth St. Shuttle buses will run between the center and the corner of Elm and Prospect streets. 

The fun continues at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 with the lighting of the Town Hall Christmas tree, sponsored by Dartmouth Parks and Recreation. Rain date is Dec. 6. 

Festivities will include giveaways from Dartmouth Community Television, gingerbread-themed treat boxes, raffles for kids, a disc jockey and refreshments. 

The activities will also include a visit from the Gingerbread Man.
