Dr. Albert S. Luiz, 89 of New Bedford, passed away at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth on May 7, 2020, after a long illness. He was the husband of Teresa "Terry" (Moniz) Luiz to whom he was married to for 62 years.

Born and raised in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Manuel and Adelaide (Menezes) Luiz. He was a communicant of the former St. John the Baptist Parish. He graduated from New Bedford High School in 1948 and continued his education at Boston University and University of Maryland. He received his Doctor of Dentistry in 1958. Dr. Luiz practiced in the New Bedford area for 50 years.

He is survived by his wife and two sons: Michael Luiz and his wife Jeanne of Florida and Thomas Luiz and his wife Carolyn of Assonet, MA. Four grandchildren: Jennifer and her husband Andrew, Michael "Mickey" and his fiancee Abby, Genevieve and Christopher.

Private funeral arrangements entrusted to Aubertine-Lopes Funeral Home, 129 Allen Street. Due to the current mandate regarding social gatherings, a memorial will be celebrated at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dr. Luiz's memory to St. James-St. John's School, 180 Orchard Street, New Bedford, MA 02740.
