Drop off broken string lights at the transfer station

Nov 19, 2019

Holiday season is approaching, and that means it is time again to figure out which string lights work, and which are broken.

But now, residents have a safe and environmentally friendly way to dispose of broken string lights: Drop-off days at the Dartmouth Transfer Station.

The Transfer Station, located at  976 Russells Mills Rd., will be accepting broken string lights until January 31. Dartmouth residents with a valid transfer station permit or a day pass may drop the string lights off during the station’s normal drop-off hours.

Drop-off hours are Tuesday and  Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

To obtain a transfer station permit or day pass, contact the Dartmouth DPW at (508) 999-0740.

The Dartmouth Lowe’s, located at 55 Faunce Corner Mall Rd., will also be accepting broken string lights for drop-off through December 24.

The Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District is offering the program as part of an effort to help reduce holiday-related waste. Contact the District office at (508) 979-1493 or by email at recycling@newbedford-ma.gov for more information.
