Drop off primary ballots at Town Hall for early voting

Aug 18, 2020

Mail-in ballots for the upcoming primary elections on September 1 can be hand delivered to the Town Clerk's office, according to a statement from Dartmouth officials.

The primaries will select party candidates for the US Senate and House races in November, and are taking place as the US Postal Service is experiencing delays in mail nationwide due to lack of funding.

Ballots can also be dropped in the large silver dropbox in the front parking lot of Town Hall any time.

Early voting in the primary elections begins on Saturday, August 22 and continues through Friday, August 28.

All registered voters are eligible to vote early without providing an excuse or reason. Voters must be registered by August 22 to take part in the primary elections on September 1.

Those who wish to vote by mail-in ballots must submit an early ballot application to the Town Clerk’s office. Residents may also request absentee ballots by mail if they will be out of town on September 1, have a disability, or have a religious belief that prevents them from going to their polling place.

Once an early voting ballot has been cast, the voter may no longer vote at the polls on Election Day.

To check to see if they are registered to vote or to find information on registering, residents may visit the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s website at www.sec.state.ma.us/ele. Town Hall will be open on Saturday August 22, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. for voter registrations.

Early voting can also be done in person in room 103 at Dartmouth Town Hall, 400 Slocum Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, August 24 through Friday, August 28.

For more information, call the Town Clerk’s Office at (508) 910-1800 during normal business hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
