Early voting for presidential election to begin October 24
The Dartmouth Town Clerk’s office has announced that early voting for the November 8 election will begin on October 24 and will continue through November 4.
Due to a new law, registered voters in the Town of Dartmouth may vote early during the period that early voting will be offered. Early voting is available to all registered voters in Dartmouth. Voters do not require a specific excuse or reason to vote early.
Early voting, as well as absentee and in-person voting, requires each voter to be registered.
Voters can check their registration status and can find information on how to register to vote at the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s website: www.sec.state.ma.us/ele. Those who need to register to vote may do it online by visiting: www.RegisterToVoteMA.com. All that is needed is a license or an I.D. issued by the Registry of Motor Vehicles to apply online.
To be eligible to vote in the November 8 election, voters must register to vote or make any necessary changes to voter registration by Wednesday, October 19. The Town of Dartmouth will be open on October 19 from 8:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. for Voter Registrations.
Registered voters have the option to request an early voting ballot through the mail. Simply fill out an application and mail it to: Town Clerk’s Office, ATTN: Elections, 400 Slocum Road, Dartmouth, MA 02747.
The application to mail is available on the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s website: http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele.
Once a voter has cast an early voting ballot, the voter may no longer vote at the polls on Election Day.
Early voting will be open at Town Hall on October 24-25 from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., on October 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., on October 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., October 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., October 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., October 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., November 1 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., November 2 from 8:30 a.m. – 7 p.m., November 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on November 4 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Early voting will also be held at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on October 24 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. and on October 25 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
