Fairhaven man arrested for attempted car break-in

Dartmouth police arrested a Fairhaven man for an attempted car break-in at the Dartmouth Woods apartment complex off Route 6 just before three a.m. on Sept. 3, according to a police press release.

Joshua Audette, 29, of Fairhaven was arrested after police responded to a call at around 2:40 a.m. that a man was trying to break into a vehicle, the release stated.

Officers found a man matching the description of the suspect after arriving on the scene and discovered a window punch in the backpack he was carrying.

According to the release, a witness also identified the man as the one who allegedly attempted the break-in.

Audette was charged with attempt to commit a crime (felony breaking and entering into a motor vehicle), and possession of burglarious tools.

Dartmouth Police Officers Amanda Tavares, Stacy Leeds, and Marc Vachon were all involved in the investigation.

Police Chief Brian Levesque commended the officers for their work as well as the citizen who stepped forward to identify the suspect.
