Fall book sale returns later this month

Oct 17, 2022

The Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries will sponsor their Fall Book Sale at the Southworth Library from Oct. 26 to 29.

Thousands of books, all in good condition, will be available for purchase. Book prices typically range between 50 cents and $2.

The general sale hours are Thursday, Oct. 27, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A preview for members of the Friends will take place on Wednesday, October 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. Because of the popularity of the members’ preview, advance registration is required. Members can sign up for a 45-minute time slot beginning at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. by calling the library at (508) 999-0726.

Only 20 openings are available for each time slot, so members are encouraged to call early.

To ensure the safety of shoppers and volunteers, browsing is limited to 20 patrons at a time. Wearing a mask is also recommended.

Proceeds from the sale allow the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries to offer free educational programs for adults and children; provide cost-saving passes for museums, parks and zoos; host the annual Molly Little Film Series; and fund special library events and purchases. Other funding sources are the annual membership drive and the continuing book sale in both libraries.

The sale will be held in the Haskell Room at the Southworth Library, 732 Dartmouth Street.  For more information, contact fodl.libraries@gmail.com.
