Fall book sale scheduled at Southworth Library

Sep 9, 2021

The Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries will sponsor their fall book sale at the Haskell Room at the Southworth Library, 732 Dartmouth St. from Wednesday, Sept. 22, to Saturday, Sept. 25.

Thousands of books, all in good condition, will be available for purchase. Book prices typically range between 50 cents and $2.

The general sale hours are Thursday, September 23, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday, September 24, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Saturday, September 25, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

A preview for members of the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries will take place on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.  Because of the popularity of the members’ preview, advance registration is required.  Members can sign up for a 45-minute time slot beginning at 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m. by calling the Library at (508) 999-0726.  Only 20 openings are available for each time slot, so members are encouraged to call early.

Masks will be required for entry to the sale, and browsing will be limited to 20 patrons at a time throughout the sale. Memberships can be renewed or purchased at the door throughout the sale. All members will receive a coupon for one free regularly priced book.

Proceeds from the sale allow the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries to offer free educational programs for adults and children; provide cost-saving passes for museums, parks and zoos; host the annual Molly Little Film Series; and fund special library events and purchases.  Other funding sources are the annual membership drive and the continuing book sale in both libraries.
