Fall River woman sentenced to 2 1/2 years on prostitution charges
A 23-year-old Fall River woman, who admitted to advertising prostitution services offered at a Dartmouth motel, was sentenced to a two-and-a-half year prison stint, according to police.
Esmeralda Lima pleaded guilty to multiple charges including armed robbery, larceny and trafficking persons for sexual servitude in Fall River District Court in February.
Lima was ordered to serve her sentence in the Bristol County House of Correction, to be followed by three years of probation.
The charges were brought following two prostitution-related incidents that occurred in Dartmouth back in March 2015. According to police, Lima and her boyfriend, Justin Croke, 23, of Rehoboth, posted ads online offering the prostitution services of young women.
Some of those women contacted police after Lima stole money from them armed with a knife. Detectives Kyle Costa and Derek Sousa brought charges against Lima after a lengthy investigation.
“With the way that prostitution and human trafficking is affecting today’s society, I am very pleased with the hard work that our detectives and the District Attorney’s Office devoted to this case, and the positive outcome that it rendered,” Acting Police Chief Robert Szala said in a statement.
