Fall Town Meeting is next Tuesday

Oct 12, 2022

Fall Town Meeting is less than a week away. This year’s proceedings, the first in-person fall gathering since 2019, will occur on Oct. 18 at the Dartmouth High auditorium at 7 p.m.

The high school is located at 500 Bakerville Road. Doors for the meeting will open at 5:30 p.m.

Town Meeting members, elected by voters of each of Dartmouth’s nine precincts, are eligible to vote on the 12 articles that make up this year’s warrant.

Members will be asked to appropriate $200,000 toward the expansion of the Dias Landing marina. These funds will be matched to a grant from the state Seaport Economic Council. The full project is estimated to cost $1.2 million.

Another appropriation will include $512,086 in community preservation funds to replace and upgrade the playground at the Dartmouth Regional Park on Old Fall River Road, the only playground in the north part of town.

Also on the docket is the approval of approximately $4.9 million in capital plan spending.

Appropriations include $18,000 for rear doors at Town Hall, $250,000 for playground improvements at each of the town’s elementary schools, and $300,000 for designs for the relocation of Tucker Road and reconstruction of Hawthorn Street.

Members of the public will be able to observe proceedings on channel 18 in Dartmouth and via live stream on DCTV’s website at www.dartmouthtv.com.

All articles up for vote were unanimously approved by the Select Board earlier this month. For a full copy of the Town Meeting warrant, visit the town website at town.dartmouth.ma.us.
