Learn how salt marsh ecosystems and music are related with New Bedford Symphony Orchestra CEO Dave Prentiss on Thursday, Nov. 7.

From 6 to 7:30 p.m., Prentiss will explore the connections between salt marsh ecosystems and works by Bach, Handel, Mozart and Copland to showcase the role balance plays in both.

When something is in balance, the various elements in its system are in proper proportion or arrangement. Balance is key in maintaining a thriving biological community of interacting organisms and a healthy environment, according to the DNRT.

It is also a vital component in music because musical compositions and the orchestra need harmonious interactions and a blend of a diverse set of sounds, the DNRT added.

The event will be held at the DNRT Center at Helfand Farm, located at 318 Chase Road.

The event costs $10 to attend and registration is available on the DNRT website.
