Fire destroys barn on Horseneck Road

Jan 12, 2019

A barn at 777 Horseneck Rd. was leveled by a fire early in the morning on Saturday, January 12.

The barn belonged to Cluck and Trowel, a farm which produces eggs, organic produce, and pork. The farm posted on Facebook that along with the barn, its flock of chickens was lost.

Dartmouth Fire District No. 2 responded to the fire before calling in other departments’ tanker trucks for assistance because there are no fire hydrants in the area.

“It was a good response from the surrounding districts, including Westport,” said Chief Brad Ellis of Fire District No. 1.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
