Fire District No. 1 awarded grant money for fire safety training

Fire District No. 1 has been awarded more than $4,000 in state grants for fire safety education, Chief Peter Andrade announced.

According to a press release from the department, $3,100 of Student Awareness of Fire Education grant money will go toward education training for students and staff at Cushman and DeMello schools in Bliss Corner.

The state also provided $1,910 to support educating seniors on fire prevention, general home safety, and how to be prepared in the event of a fire. Classes will be developed through cooperation with the Dartmouth Council on Aging.

Additional information will be made available as the program develops.

“We are poured of the hard work and dedication our team of SAFE educators provides year after year and we look forward to that training into our senior community,” Andrade said.
