Forage and eat with an herbalist

Apr 27, 2017

The Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust will co-host a walk, talk, and luncheon with herbalist Brandan Kelly.

On June 2, Kelly — author of “The Yin and Yang of Climate Crisis" — will lead an educational foraging excursion for common eco-medicinal herbs through the Slocum's River Reserve. As the group discovers local medicinal plants, Kelly will discuss climate change's effect on these healing herbs as well as the importance of re-localizing and naturalizing the practice of medicine. Attendees will receive a detailed reference handout for personal use. $15; 9:30 a.m.

Kelly will follow the walk with a luncheon at the DNRT Center, located at 318 Chase Road. Chef Edward Roszak of Mattapoisett's How on Earth will prepare a sustainable, locally-sourced lunch for attendees. The "Trail to Table" lunch will incorporate some of the plants identified and tasted during the aforementioned herb walk. Kelly will also talk about using western herbs as well as dietary and lifestyle suggestions to treat the numerous symptoms associated with inflammatory diseases such as Lyme disease. $60; 12 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at https://give.classy.org/lymeclimate. Package price includes a ticket for the "Walk & Talk," and a signed copy of Kelly's book, "The Yin and Yang of Climate Crisis." Online tickets are only being sold as a package at this time.
