Fort white: Kids build snow forts to benefit school fund
In the wake of the recent blizzard, Mary Waite of the Dartmouth School Committee decided once again to find a way of keeping kids entertained while benefiting the school.
Waite recently held a snowman building contest — publicized on various Facebook groups — after last month’s Nor’easter which attracted over 20 entrants, including a few snow forts that were disqualified for not actually being snowmen.
So this time around, Waite decided to give the fort builders their time to shine with a snow fort building contest.
Like last time, the Waite and Tufano families each put up $50 for the contest, to be donated to the Dartmouth Education Foundation in the name of the winner.
Troy Tufano also provided impartial judges in the form of his daughters, Aurelia, 9, and Gianna, 7, to pick the winner of the competition, as they did for the snowmen.
The winner, as chosen by the Tufano sisters, was the “Violet Cavern,” which was large enough to fit both of its architects, Luke, 13, and Dylan Violet, 9, comfortably inside.
